"The sound of my steps"
Performance by Costas Tsoclis
For two hours, in a small Venetian house in the central street of the Ottoman settlement, Costas Tsoclis walked endlessly in a circle on a thick layer of natural salt.
Costas Tsoclis’ performance symbolizes confinement as well as the notion of time( time needed for sea water to evaporate and turn into salt) and his imprints on the salt bring to mind the circle of life.
The recorded sounds of the artist’s steps can be heard on Spinalonga, in the Uffici Museum in Florence as well as in numerous art spaces in Greece and abroad encouraging visitors to mentally participate in this performance.
